Traditional Chinese Medicine Acupuncture

Acupuncture is an age-old modality using single use needles to unblock constricted pathways of the body, which, in turn, can be used to treat a variety of symptoms… everything from a headache to back pain to anxiety and fertility. Superfine needles (and I mean nearly as fine as a strand of hair!) are inserted into points on the body that run along specific meridians. If everything flows freely, there are no blockages, no pain, and no disharmonies in the body. Acupuncture promotes the body's own self-healing process. It is a very safe practice performed by licensed professionals.

Using a detailed assessment into diet, sleep patterns, digestion, energy levels and other dysfunctional patterns that can lead to pain/health issues. I use a collaborative approach with modern medicine to maximise results. Although acupuncture needles are the primary tools used by acupuncturists, other fun modalities such as moxibustion, cupping and gua sha could also be used. All of these have been around for thousands of years and feel really good!

Cupping

Whether you’re a stay at home mum or a competitive athlete this ancient therapy that dates back to the 4th century, this therapy has proven to be beneficial. Respiratory issues, joint pain, back pain, neck tension, ankle sprain and relaxation are all beneficial from using cupping.

Cups are suctioned onto the skin and work in a way that could be considered the opposite of a massage. Rather than apply pressure to the muscles, the suction pulls them up. It draws toxins out of the body. Cupping loosens muscles, encourages blood flow, sedates the nervous system and is one of the best deep-tissue treatments available. It can work wonders by relieving congestion in those suffering from bronchial and respiratory issues. Consider yourself warned though; this is the treatment that can (not always) leave those purplish circles on your back (or wherever treated), so we'll skip this if you need to throw on that backless dress tomorrow!

Deep Tissue Massage

Massage involving manipulation of superficial and deep layers of muscle and connective tissue to enhance function, aid in the healing process, and ultimately promote relaxation and well-being. Deep Tissue Massage techniques work deep into the muscle tissue, physically working to loosen adhesions and restore ease of movement to the body.

His technique not only feels good but also has specific therapeutic benefits. Deep tissue massage is used in a wide range of medical conditions, specific conditions include: joint and muscular pain or dysfunction, gastrointestinal discomfort, psychological stress, improved circulation and removal of metabolic waste. Together, this process promotes tissue healing and remodelling for optimal recovery.

Although Deep Tissue Massage can at times cause discomfort during the treatment, Adeel will work with you to ensure you are comfortable with the pressure they are applying. After the treatment you will not only feel relaxed and refreshed, but your muscle pain will be significantly reduced. Deep Tissue Massage releases toxins from the muscles, so it is recommended you drink plenty of water and get some rest following your massage

Bowen Technique

Bowen is a holistic remedial body technique that works on the soft connective tissue (fascia) of the body. Bowen therapy can be used to treat musculoskeletal or related neurological problems including acute sports injuries and chronic or organic conditions. It is gentle and relaxing and does not use forceful manipulation. Bowen therapy is performed on the superficial and deep fascia. The fascia, or soft tissue, is the part of the connective tissue that envelops, separates and influences every organ and tissue in the body.

The Bowen technique is safe to use on anyone, from newborns to the elderly and for any musculoskeletal or related neuromuscular complaint. It is a holistic treatment that treats the whole person and aims to treat the cause of problems, rather than the symptoms. Rather than focusing on a single complaint, Bowen Technique addresses the entire body, by restoring balance via the autonomic nervous system (ANS). The ANS controls over 80% of bodily functions and is very susceptible to external stressors.

Most people today live in a constant state of high stress and sympathetic ANS over-stimulation (fight, flight or freeze mode). Healing can occur only after the ANS shifts from sympathetic to parasympathetic dominance (rest, relax and repair mode). Bowen Technique enables that shift.

A treatment will typically last between 30 minutes to one hour and can be provided through a layer of light clothing, although you may be asked to remove heavy or thick garments. During the treatment, Adeel may leave the room for periods of two to five minutes at a time. This allows your body to respond to the treatment and any necessary changes to occur in your body before commencing the next sequence of moves.
